Hello! My name is Ale, pronounced as Allie.

I am a Venezuelan born, professional field guide, conservationist and passionate wildlife photographer based in South Africa. From an Italian and Latvian background, I was born in Venezuela into a family of wildlife lovers and hopeless wanderers. It was a constant curiosity instilled by family and eventually falling in love with a rhino that lead me to settle in the Greater Kruger area in South Africa – from where I’ve been exploring, living and enjoying the incredible wilderness areas of this continent.

I became a professional field guide in 2012 at Lion Sands Game Reserve Sabi Sand. I was based at Lion Sands for a couple of years and commenced my wanderings across the African continent, always in search of the peace and thrill of wilderness areas. From Lion Sands I then furthered my studies obtaining a Master’s degree in Conservation Science at Imperial College London. Let’s just say my thesis involved a lot of love for leopards, camera traps and East Africa.

As soon as I obtained my MSc I escaped back into the bush. My next installment was as the General Manager of Simbambili Game Lodge in the Sabi sand before moving onto becoming a private guide and a freelance presenter for WildEarth and Natgeo Wild’s show “safariLIVE”.

In 2017 I founded WanderingThru Photo Safaris & Expeditions, a boutique safari company specializing in safaris to Southern, East and Central Africa. Since the creation on WanderingThru I have been enjoying creating and taking people on small and intimate journeys across the African continent alongside our other safari partners and private guides.

I am a coffee addict, loud speaker and tree lover. I’m always happy to meet nature and conservation driven people and hear their unique stories. If you would like to work with me or get hold of me for safaris, guiding or photography purposes you can contact me on ale@wanderingthru.com
